Smart BTS (Base Station Transceiver Subsystem) is located between MS (Mobile Station) and BSC (Base Station Controller) in the CDMA digital mobile communication technology based personal communication network, and controlls calls of mobile terminal and performs system operation and maintenance. In other words, Smart BTS leads the mobile terminal to initially recognize BTS, provides information required for the communication service, allocates a traffic channel for the call request from the mobile terminal, and opens the call path. It also provides new functions (high-speed data service, multimedia service, new handoff) defined in IS-2000 standards.
