EAST 1100
The Ethernet Access Service Terminal 1100 is the OLT for the LG-Ericsson Ethernet access 1100 solution. The EAST 1100 is a 19-inch wide, 10U high rack mount shelf. The shelf consists of 11 slots: 2 slots for Switch & Network Interface cards, 8 slots for PON Interface cards or other service carrying cards, and one slot for the Maintenance Control card. Installed at the central office, the EAST 1100 towards the CPE supports a suite of 100Mbps and 1Gbps PON interfaces cards or E1/T1 Circuit Emulation Interface cards. In a single shelf, the maximum fill of eight 100Mbps PON interfaces can support up to 256 wavelengths, with a maximum of 4 shelves per 2.2metre rack providing up to 1024 wavelengths. The PON Interface (PI) card interfaces with the customer premises located Ethernet Access Business Units (EABU) or Ethernet Access Residential Units (EARU). Toward the Network, the EAST 1100 supports up to eight 1G/10Gbps Ethernet interface ports via the Switch & Network Interface Card. The SW/NI can be 1+1 protected for redundancy when two SW/NI cards are equipped in the EAST 1100 shelf.

PI ( PON Interface)
The PI card receives 100M or 1000M Ethernet through optical wavelength division multiplexing from ONTs & ONUs, which support the WDM-PON interface. It also uses L2 switching function to transmit Ethernet packet to SW/NI card.3 PON Interface Card variants
3 PON Interface Card variants:
PI-100M : 32x100M PON Interface (8dB link budget)
PI-HP : High Performance 32x100M PON Interface (12dB link budget)
PI-G : 16x1G PON Interface (8dB link budget)

Summary Feature List per PI card:
WDM Physical Interface unit
Performs 16 / 32 wavelengths Mux/Demux
On-board BLS and performance monitoring
Injection Locked FP LD technology
Upstream : C-Band, Downstream : L-Band
Symmetrical Upstream and Downstream bandwidth
Layer 2 Switching / Forwarding between ONT and SW/NI card
Advanced L2 features eg. QoS, classification and IGMP snooping
Front-panel LED indication for each wavelength
Supports Remote Software Download and Configuration back-up

SW/NI (Switch & Network Interface) Card
The SW/NI card performs layer 2/3 switching and protocol processing for Ethernet data received from the PI and transmits the data to the central office core network or service network through Gigabit Ethernet (GE) optical ports.
